President/CEO – PE Backed Eyecare Platform

Overview

SCALE Healthcare’s private equity backed client, a leader in comprehensive eye care, is looking for a President/CEO with vast healthcare experience who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organization and ensuring its continued growth and success. You will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational excellence in managing all aspects of their multi-specialty ophthalmology group. This role requires a dynamic and results-oriented leader who can effectively guide the organization, foster innovation, and maintain the highest standards of patient care. This position is expected to be a hybrid role.

Employing a substantial number of optometrists & ophthalmologists, this multi-state platform operates in several significant metropolitan areas. It utilizes an efficient service delivery model to cater to its patients, aiming to capture a larger share of the market and explore expansion possibilities.
With a network comprising numerous optometry and ophthalmology clinics as well as ambulatory surgery centers, the platform offers a wide array of eye care services, including surgical and ophthalmological procedures. In the period spanning the twelve months ending August 2023, the platform generated approximately $300 million in revenue. The organization remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering top-tier eye care services to patients and is actively seeking dedicated professionals to become part of its team.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision and goals for the organization in alignment with its
mission and values.

  • Identify growth opportunities and market trends in the field of ophthalmology and develop strategies to
    capitalize on them.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure the financial health and sustainability of
    the organization.
  • Monitor revenue streams, control costs, and implement financial best practices.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to department heads and staff to ensure efficient and effective daily
    operations.
  • Implement quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and other industry
    standards.
  • Stay up to date with changes in healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a patient-centered focus, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care and service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians, healthcare organizations, and
    community partners.
  • Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art technology and equipment to enhance patient care and
    operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field required.

  • Prior experience working for a private equity backed organization highly preferred.
  • Progressive leadership experience in a multi-site healthcare management environment, with a strong
    preference for experience in ophthalmology or a related field. (multi-state preferred).
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and growing healthcare organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Visionary thinker with the ability to adapt to a changing healthcare landscape.
  • Firm attention to detail and time management skills are required.

*Transition Management: *

  • Work closely with the retiring CEO to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities.
  • Learn and understand the intricacies of the organization’s operations, culture, and stakeholder
    relationships.
  • Engage with the executive team and key stakeholders (Optometrists, ophthalmologists, and upper
    management) to facilitate a smooth handover.
  • Travel to each market with current CEO within the first 90 days required
  • Transition phase (75- 90) days post hire
